About The Helping Books

Our Mission

At The Helping Books®, our mission is to promote healing, resilience, and empowerment through bibliotherapeutic books written and designed by therapists, parents, and other unique professionals. Each series—whether focused on foster care, chronic illness, death, trauma, grief, or cognitive decline—is rooted in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic principles.

Our specific mission-focused objectives include:

  • Educational Empowerment
We equip children, youth, and their caregivers with accessible, age-appropriate knowledge about their rights, personal safety, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and how to access resources and advocacy. Each workbook fosters psychoeducation as a tool for agency, self-efficacy, and informed decision-making.

  • Community Engagement
Our workbooks aim to foster social connectedness by encouraging the development of consistent, supportive relationships with safe and trusted adults. We emphasize the importance of protective factors, relational permanence, and wraparound support systems that enhance educational stability, family functioning, and psychosocial well-being.

  • Personal Empowerment
We promote autonomy and resilience by helping children and families set meaningful goals, practice self-advocacy, build emotional literacy, and believe in their capacity for change. Each book aims to nurture hope, voice, and self-worth—enabling readers to reclaim their narrative and reach their full potential.

Whether written for children navigating foster care, families facing serious illness, or elders living with memory loss, every Helping Books® series is a catalyst for transformation—rooted in dignity, healing, and belonging—to help individuals live with purpose, connection, and hope.

Each series has a focused topic with therapeutic books.
